dzn Palillos restaurant by the Bouroullec Brothers06 Bouroullec brothers restaurant in Berlin blablablog

I just had the pleasure of spending some time in Berlin, celebrating the New Year. I found this sweet little restaurant in mitte, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. Unfortunately the restaurant opens in mid January 2010, so I didn’t get to eat there. But it looks like a place you would want to go if you’re in Berlin. Oh, it also helps that the chef is Albert Raurich, elBulli’s former chef.

26 0 Google Street View Photographer blablablog

Now the inhabitants of Paris can find themselves in Michael Wolf’s artistic take on the Google mapping project. And he’s retrieved some lovely moments of people and things caught for a single arbitrary moment on a particular day in the city.

By way of an explantion of his intentions with the Paris Street View project, thingsmagazine offers this quote from Wolf: “The problem is that compared to Asia, Paris is a stagnant city – very little has changed architecturally since Atget’s times, and the cliches are a nightmare to get out from under of. Strangely enough, it was Google Street View which enabled me to take any photos at all of Paris.
“I spent weeks going through the city on my monitor, street by street, looking into windows, discovering reflections, searching out interesting juxtapositions, topologies, trying various crops/styles (Frank, Doisneau, Ruscha, and so on). The lack of a third dimension wore me down at times, but it was quite an interesting journey.”

Check out some more of his beautiful pictures after the jump.

This guy, Rhett Dashwood spends a lot of time cruising Australia on Google maps, looking for letters in buildings, roads and nature. Kind of interesting that it’s actually possible to find a whole alphabet in just one country. Who’s up for the challenge in Denmark?

 The Puerto America blablablog

So I’m back from a short break in Madrid. Weather wasn’t too good, but luckily we stayed at The Puerto America which had lots to offer. 14 floors with a rooftop pool/spa each designed by different designers and architects. And not just anybody, were talking Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Jean Nouvel, Ron Arad and Marc Newson – pretty cool. We had the pleasure of staying at Marc Newson’s sleek, red light district floor. Even though I rather would have spend my time in one of Zaha Hadid’s organic rooms it still was a good experience.

More pictures in the post.
